Event Description: Henri Nouwen (1932-1996) was one of the most popular spiritual writers of his generation who gave up academia in his mid-50s to become a pastor at L'Arche in Canada and a companion to a circus troupe. A brilliant teacher, preacher and priest, Nouwen struggled with anxiety and depression for much of his life. On this retreat, Nouwen's biographer, Michael Ford, retraces the author's story to help us transform our own wounds into gifts for the world.

Michael Ford is an author and broadcaster who reported on religion and ethics for BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service for many years. He was the first student in Europe to research a doctoral thesis on Henri Nouwen. Michael has published widely in the realm of contemporary spirituality, working also as a spiritual guide and retreat leader through his hermitagewithin website.
