Our Next Event

Event: 2-Day Retreat: The Zen Path of Nonviolence to Harmony and Peace.

NB: This weekend will not now take place.

Facilitator: Father Patrick Kundo Eastman Roshi.
Venue: Water of Leith Visitor Centre, 24 Lanark Road, Edinburgh. EH14 1TQ. NB: note the change of venue.
Dates: Saturday 8 - Sunday 9 October 2016.
Time: Registration: 9.30am-10am. Retreat Days: 10am-5pm.
Event Description: The two days will begin with an introduction to Zen meditation including walking meditation and a time of silence. The pattern for the retreat will be a talk followed by a time of silent meditation then break out groups to discuss and then the results from each group being collated. We will set a gentle and nonviolent approach to the whole two days with time to just be attentive to the world around us. “To look and really see, to listen and really hear.”

Fr. Patrick was born in 1937 and was ordained as a Christian priest in 1969. He has ministered in England and, for 22 years, in the USA. He became a Benedictine Oblate in November 1963 and received an MA in Monastic spirituality in 1998. He has served on the executive committee for Pax Christ UK, and the International Thomas Merton Society. He is currently a member of the Society for Buddhist Christian Studies. He began Zen training in 1990 with Dr. Ruben Habito  Roshi, then with Abbot Daido Loori Roshi and finally with Fr. Robert Jinsen Kennedy SJ Roshi who gave him Dharma transmission as aa Zen teacher of the White Plum Asangha lineage in 2009. Currently he is the founder and directing teacher of the Wild Goose Zen Sangha in England. He finally received Inka in 2015 which installed him as a Roshi.
